After Five Generations in the Bee Business Honey Ridge Farms Adds Honey Balsamic Vinegar to Product Line
Brush Prairie, WA (May 27, 2008) – Honey Ridge Farms, a Washington-based artisanal honey producer specializing in gourmet honeys, honey crèmes and honey barbeque sauces, recently announced the addition of the new balsamic honey vinegar to its product line. Honey Ridge’s balsamic-style vinegar is made exclusively from honey, using a classic balsamic fermentation process based on a product prototype developed by the National Honey Board (NHB). Since the vinegar debuted at the San Diego Fancy Foods Show in January 2008 it has been a named a 2008 sofi™ Silver, Outstanding Vinegar Finalist.
Leeanne Goetz, founder and proprietor of Honey Ridge Farms, began her quest to develop a balsamic honey vinegar in the summer of 2006, after seeing a NHB industry bulletin focused on the honey balsamic vinegar concept. “The concept the NHB was working on was an ideal fit for our business,” says Goetz. “We were looking for a unique new product to add to our portfolio, but wanted to maintain the same level of quality we developed in our gourmet specialty honeys.”
The balsamic honey vinegar’s sole ingredient is locally sourced natural honey, making it sulfite free and a healthier alternative to other vinegars currently on the market. The balsamic honey vinegar has a deep hue, mellow flavor and is ideal to use in place of conventional grape-based balsamic vinegars. Available in individual consumer sizes as well as commercial packages, Honey Ridge Farms Balsamic Honey Vinegar is available online and through specialty food stores with a suggested retail price of .99 for 8.45 ounces.
Honey Ridge Farms proprietors Leeanne and John Goetz are uniquely qualified for expanding a line of specialty honey products, boasting five generations of family history in the beekeeping industry. In fact, much of the honey used in Honey Ridge Farms products is sourced from Sweet Bee Honey Co., which is owned and operated by Leeanne’s 21-year-old son Ryan Lieuallen. With a strong family connection to the apiculture industry and partnerships with local beekeepers, Honey Ridge Farms will donate a portion of the profits from Balsamic Honey Vinegar sales to help fund research to promote bee colony health.
