FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Portuguese and Anglo-influenced Indian Sauces now available from Stonehouse 27

Stonehouse 27 Spice Co. launches with ultra-premium Portuguese and British Indian cooking sauces available for US retailers

April 2009 - Germantown, TN.  Stonehouse 27 Spice Company, purveyor of fine, upscale Indian products proudly announced the launch of their newly developed line of ultra-premium cooking sauces, here today. Stonehouse 27’s premier product line is unique and based on Portuguese and British Indian cuisine that emerged in a culinary trend that originated on India’s spice coast. A trend incorporating the best of Eastern flavors with the West.

After years of product development, positive test marketing, and strategic planning, company officials confidently finalized plans for a new consumer marketing strategy that aims to position Stonehouse 27 as a leader in upscale gourmet Indian products and gourmet cooking sauces.

“Up until now, the authentic Portuguese-Anglo Indian cuisine I grew up on was missing from shelves and I wanted to introduce it to families across America.” said founder and president of the company, Sharon Fernandes.

Stonehouse 27’s unique cooking sauce recipes incorporate some modern touches in their traditional recipes, such as the use of low glycemic agave nectar - which is a natural sweetener. No added salt is just one other benefit that these sauces offer, allowing consumers the ability to control their sodium intake. These recipes use pure canola oil - containing the least amount of saturated fat of any common edible oil.

Along with fresh herbs, vegetables and premium spices, the result is a truly sophisticated blend that captures the essence of homemade style in a quick and easy to prepare form. All one has to do is cook the sauce with a suggested meat, seafood, poultry and/or vegetable pairing and a delicious exotic Indian recipe is ready in minutes!

Stonehouse 27 takes no shortcuts to deliver a deliciously different Indian cooking sauce without the fuss of preparation, and as a result, consumers get to spend the time where it matters the most - sharing a great meal with family and friends around the table.

Each of Stonehouse 27’s six SKUs is a unique recipe created specifically to marry with the natural flavors of poultry, seafood and meat:

Cilantro & Coconut (mild) - Mild Indian spices, fresh herbs and lemon delicately finished with creamy coconut milk

Tamarind & Garlic (mild) - Tomato, garlic, tamarind and exotic spices tantalize the taste buds

Tomato & Chilies (medium) - Aromatic spices and chilies produces a rich and complex tomato sauce

Cashews & Cream (mild; hot) - Irresistible flavor produced through a complex blend of aromatic spices, cashew nuts and cream

Dates & Tamarind (hot & sweet) - Succulent dates, roasted chilies and tamarind combine for explosive flavor

In addition to offering consumers a more unique and exotic line than competing brands, Stonehouse 27’s branding and packaging has tremendous shelf-appeal; an additional selling point for retailers looking to take advantage of a booming ethnic foods segment - specifically the Indian Foods category - which has seen over 1200 new products launch since 2007.

Stonehouse 27 will begin with distribution channels on the East Coast and Southeast, and then expand rapidly on a national level through a targeted direct sales and marketing approach. Stonehouse 27 will first focus on the upper-end of the market by targeting gourmet and specialty food stores, ethnic markets, and upscale grocery stores. Stonehouse 27 also plans on building national brand recognition by reaching consumers through an online marketing approach - including web 2.0 and social networking tools - to complement their traditional marketing initiatives.

In addition to generating profitable sales channels, Stonehouse 27 will take a philanthropic approach in business by supporting local charities and food banks where their sauces retail as well as foundations that support the education of young women.

The site, which has been six months in development, boasts over 300 businesses and products specific to the gourmet and specialty food industry at time of launch.

DiChickO’s Launches Organic Restaurant Concept

June 23rd, 2008

Augusta, Georgia
June 14, 2008

DiChickO’s Gourmet Peri-Peri Sauces and Marinade company specializes in flavor as well as healthy living. The sauce company has been in business approx. 5 years and has just opened up it’s first of many Organic Peri-Peri restaurants (inside of New Life Natural Foods in Augusta, Georgia). DiChickO’s Restaurant uses the authentic South African process of preparing it’s Chicken. The Free Range/Organic Chicken is Marinated in DiChickO’s Marinade, Basted with the Wing Sauce and the dishes are finished off with 1 of the 6 flavors of Peri-Peri Sauces.

The Peri-Peri restaurant concept is very popular around most parts of the world, especially Europe and Africa. If you aren’t familiar with this concept, it is based on the Peri-Peri pepper which is indigenous to the Southern region of Africa. This fiery little pepper has a depth of flavor unique unto itself and a medium heat level. The marinade and sauces are made using this pepper along with all fresh ingredients: garlic, onion, lemon, etc. The sauce is different from all other hot sauces mainly due to the long cooking process applied. These products are slow cooked for hours to ensure the depth for which they have become famous.
For the first time ever, the Peri-Peri concept has been merged with the Natural Market to provide it’s customers with the best of both worlds. The DiChickO’s restaurant uses 100% USDA Organic produce, Free Range/Organic Chicken, All Natural Sauces, etc. One can also find Gluten Free and Vegetarian options on the menu.
The owners of DiChickO’s restaurant are family members of the owners of New Life Natural Foods. Both groups are watching as this concept continues to soar. They are working together in an effort to educate the public on Organics. “Many people still do not understand what Organic food really is. They think it is weird…” said Heather D., manager, “We are showing them every day that Organic food truly tastes better than conventionally grown and we are introducing them to the wonderful flavor of Peri-Peri at the same time. The marriage of these 2 worlds is something that DiChickO’s hopes is the foundation for a franchise that focuses on “Making Healthy Easy…and Delicious!”

Another Boston catering company? See how Savory to Sweet is different from the rest and taking corporate lunches to a new level.

June 18th, 2008

Just when catering companies are saying farewell to the summer and welcoming another holiday season, it’s time for the competitive Boston catering market to make some room for a true gem.  Lead by Amy Kohen, 29, a former chef with the Ritz-Carlton Chicago, Savory to Sweet offers a wide variety of catering services, but specializes in corporate lunches.

“In a time when people want to just grab their box lunch and run, I’m hoping the food and services that we’re providing will help people slow down a bit and take a break from their work days,” Kohen explains.

And who wouldn’t want to slow down and enjoy the Hoisin and Lime Glazed Duck Breast with Ginger-Curry Sweet Potatoes or Charred Shrimp and White Bean Salad with Bacon, Artichokes and Basil.

Of course, box lunches are also available, but they are a bit dressed up.  Try the seared Ahi tuna wrap with daikon and napa cabbage slaw in tortilla and soy-miso dressing or the Chili Rubbed Sirloin with tomato, avocado, grilled red onions, and a chipotle-lime sauce on Ciabatta.

While providing a broad, yet simple menu for clients to choose from, Savory to Sweet offers a quick order process to save clients time on the phone.  On-time deliveries coupled with high-quality service promises successful and smooth events.  Savory to Sweet provides seasonal menus online so clients can also order through the website.

After spending two years with the Ritz-Carlton Chicago, Kohen understands now more than ever that guests eat with their eyes first, but flavors are just as important.

“All of our dishes are beautiful to look at, but of course strong balanced flavors keep our customers coming back,” Kohen notes.

Besides specializing in plattered dishes, Kohen also offers an extensive Afternoon Tea menu, as well as some refreshing ideas for weekend brunches (don’t forget to try the Beet-Cured Salmon or the Acacia Honey-Soy Smoked Sable).

Based just west of Boston, Kohen is looking forward to sharing her culinary talents with the city and its’ suburbs.  Savory to Sweet has their seasonal menus posted online and looks forward to catering your next corporate and social events.

About Amy Kohen:

Kohen has worked with various catering companies in the Boston area.  Prior to her hotel stint in Chicago, she was the Sous Chef with Green Olive Catering in Woburn.  In addition, Kohen has worked with Baker’s Best, Basil Tree, and Creative Gourmet.  She received her B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado-Boulder and received her A.S. in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales in Providence, Rhode Island.
